Join the dots between two other artists to sum up your sound.
Blondie + Television = The Nectars
How did your band come together?
We we’re all in a Miss America Pageant together, realized we were bff’s, and needed to travel the world together performing our famous yodeling routine. The rest you probably already know from the newspapers!
Your debut album, Sci-Fi Television, is out on the Friday of Dot To Dot! What can we expect?
We’re planning to be the first ever entirely nude performance of Dot To Dot. Don’t tell our managers! But really it’ll be a rad way to release something near and dear to us, plus the party we’re planning for the show is going to be wild!
What are you most looking forward to about playing in the UK?
Meeting all the other cool bands and showing them what us four Americans have been up to! It’s gonna be loud!
We’ve got a really eclectic mix of venues at Dot To Dot, but where is the strangest place you’ve ever played a gig and how did it go?
Recently we played this great New Jersey punk staple called “The Meat Locker” which is basically an unfinished dirt floor basement underneath an Italian restaurant. It smells awful and you should be tested for tetanus after leaving but we loved it.
Are there any other bands from the line-up who you’re excited about right now?
Oh yea! Turnover, Pale Waves, Marika Hackman, Sports Team, we could keep going… haha
Finally, hypothetically, you’re DJing the Dot To Dot after party, what’s your final song of the night?
We’re going to end it with “Greens Beans Potatoes Tomatoes” remix. You name it.
Catch the Nectars at this year’s Dot To Dot Festival, playing in Manchester, Bristol & Nottingham.
