Political activism, unrelenting basslines, cut glass guitar riffs and the freneticism of enhanced neural pathways all fuse, spark and ignite as Manchester newcomers, HOLLY HEAD, release their debut single, No Gain. Fringing post-punk, flirting with dance and suffusing no little funk into precious few minutes of an incessant, rug-cutting “Afrobeat Curious Post-Hardgaze”, the four-piece transmit the crucial sounds of a raging, wide-awake, no more bullsh*t society.
Initially formed with the aim of creating low-lit, melodic indie folk akin to Big Thief and Johnny Flynn before unknown and unexpected, corruptive forces led them down a path of uncategorised, borderless expression of poised, purposeful chaos, Holly Head is made up of Joe (vocals, guitar) Liam (bass), Oscar (drums) and Paddy (guitar).
No Gain was recorded in the company of producer, Seanda McPhail at Airtight Studios in Chorlton, South Manchester.
