HOORAY FOR EARTH INTERVIEW

Hooray for Earth are from New York, were formed in 2006. Their debut album, ‘True Loves’ is available now on the London based Memphis Industries. To find out more interesting facts about the band, and so that you’re acquainted with them in time for Dot To Dot, please read on!
Tell us the story behind your name.
It means “hooray” like “fuck” we’re all fucked.
What is your favourite thing about playing city based festivals?
Cities
Are there any other bands from the line-up flyer who you really want to
see at Dot to Dot?
Yeah, I’ve never seen Wavves or Willy Mason, psyched for that. Our friend Johnny Woods has been doing visual work with Neon Indian but I’m not sure if he’ll be along for the festival…either way looking forward to that too.
What is your fave item to take on tour and why?
I don’t have anything like that really. I guess a bottle of something nice to keep company. I read a decent amount when I can but tend to forget to bring my books along.
If you could play any instrument that you can’t already, what would it
be?
I wish I’d spent more time on the finer stringed instruments when I was a kid. Violin, cello.
If you still feel like you need a little more persuading to see them at Dot To Dot, then do not fear, we can provide you with evidence enough – watch their video for ‘Realize It’s Not the Sun’ here!

Nick Drake
What is your favourite thing about playing city based festivals?
It’s a festival with no mud
Are there any other bands from the line-up flyer who you really want to see at Dot to Dot?
I think I might try and catch Dog is Dead’s set
What is your fave item to take on tour and why?
My guitar and capo because I enjoy playing it
If you could play any instrument that you can’t already, what would it be?
Definitely the Piano

BONDAX INTERVIEW

We put our Dot To Dot Artists Q&A’s to George and Adam, aka Bondax who will be playing at Dot To Dot in June. The band’s diet currently consists mostly of crème eggs, but we’re confident they will be in fighting shape by the time Dot To Dot comes around!
If you had to choose any musician in the world ever to replace you, who would it be?
George: Moby
Adam: Stevie Wonder
What is your favourite thing about playing city based festivals?
This is our first one, but I imagine real toilets and real beds will be nice
Are there any other bands from the line-up flyer who you really want to see at Dot to Dot?
Excited about Neon Indian and Neon Indian. Willis Earl Beal should be good too.
What is your fave item to take on tour and why?
Currently creme eggs, but it will change after easter.
If you could play any instrument that you can’t already, what would it be?
George: Accordian
Adam: Steel Drums
We don’t think Bondax will be playing accordian and steel drums at Dot To Dot, but they will be playing their usual awesome set, including this super track, ‘Just Us’!
Calling All Music Photographers

As well as championing the most vital new music around, we will also be nurturing wider creative talents in 2012 with a competition to get your hands on a coveted Dot To Dot photo pass.

We have a photo pass, which gives you access to Dot To Dot venue photo pits, for each city up for grabs, and all you have to do to enter is post the best live shot you’ve ever taken to Twitter with the hashtag #D2DFestPhoto or tag Dot To Dot Festival in your photo on Facebook. The competition ends on 29th May, so make sure you submit your photos asap.
RANDOM IMPULSE INTERVIEW

If Dot To Dot artist Random Impulse could play any other instrument in the world than he can already, he would play the triangle! Sound absurd? Find out why below! Catch the guitar playing rapper at Doto To Dot this June, and get to know him before that below!
Join the dots between two other bands to sum up your sound.
Would have to be Jay-X and Arctic Monkeys. Jay-z for his amazing guitar riffs (come on you saw Glastonbury right lol)
Tell us the story behind your name.
When I was younger I used always do mad stuff on impulse. And my friends just started calling me impulse. And the random just got added as the years went by.
If you had to choose any musician in the world ever to replace you, who would it be?
It would have to be Jack White, but with a tan. Guess he can get his fake tan on if need be.
What is your favourite thing about playing city based festivals?
You’re indoors so the worry of getting wet is gone, but to be honest I’m not sure.
Are there any other bands from the line-up flyer who you really want to see at Dot to Dot?
Yeah looking forward to seeing my good old pal Ryan Keen.
What is your fave item to take on tour and why?
That’s a tricky one….ummm Jagermeister, simply because it brings good times. Actually my loop pedal, I bought when I was on tour with Rizzle Kicks and I love messing around with it, I’m a sucker for gadgets and new technology.
If you could play any instrument that you can’t already, what would it be?
I would have to say the triangle, because it looks so simple, but is actually rather complex.

THE INTERNET INTERVIEW

In light of this week’s amazing new line-up announcement, and the fact that it included the formidable partnership The Internet, comprising of Syd tha Kyd and Matt Martians from Los Angeles collective Odd Future, we thought we had better give you the next exciting installment in our Dot To Dot artist Q&A’s. Read below to find out what Matt Martians from The Internet had to say about their name and who they can’t wait to see at Dot To Dot!
Join the dots between two other acts to sum up your sound.
I’d say in between Jamiroquai and Erykah Badu. We both grew up on heavy doses of both and it bleeds through in our music
Tell us the story behind your name.
We all met on the internet in some way shape or form, so it made all the sense to name ourselves ‘Internet’.
If you had to choose any musician in the world ever to replace you, who would it be?
Don’t really have one, I think everybody has their own sound for a reason and another musician replacing us would take away from their sound and audience as well.
What is your favourite thing about playing city based festivals?
This is our first festival performance!
Are there any other bands from the line-up flyer who you really want to see at Dot to Dot?
Summer Camp is really really dope. They did a few songs with my production partner Hal for their next project so I’m excited to see them.
What is your fave item to take on tour and why?
HA, on the first odd future US tour our favorite item was probably weed. It takes the stress out of being away from home for extended periods.
If you could play any instrument that you can’t already, what would it be?
I really want to learn bass guitar. It’s the soul of funk music.
Get your tickets to see The Internet at Dot To Dot here, listen to ‘Purple Naked Ladies’ by The Internet in the below Spotify player and watch a making of documentary of it here!
